Malvoisie

Malvoisie is a local selection of Pinot Grigio, a basic grape of the Nus Malvoisie DOC wine.

Malvoisie is a local selection of Pinot Grigio, a basic DOC grape of the area "Valle d'Aoste Nus Malvoise."

The term Pinot indicates a series of different vinestocks that are distinguished by characteristics and use and that descend genetically from Pinot Noir.

The term pinot seems to derive from "pigna," most specifically "piccola pigna (little pine cone)," for both the modest size of the cluster and the characteristic of having thick, closely-clustered grapes just like the scales of a pine cone.

The DOC wine Nus Malvoisie matches well with antipasto, in particular cold cuts, fish and white meat. It can also be served as an aperitif.

In the fletri version, it becomes a wine of great character. The bunches are brought to fermentation and maturation in small wooden casks. This wine is excellent with antipasto, first courses, white meat and "chiacchiera" (conversational) wine and cookies for the fletri version.
